Message from the Head
Happy New Year and all the very best for 2016.
Also, welcome back to the Spring term – although I have to say that it does not feel very Spring-like at all! On that note please can you ensure that your daughter has appropriate clothing for these cold and rainy days – a good coat or waterproof and /or an umbrella would be great and appropriate but sturdy school shoes. Thank you for this.
As always there is never a moment in school where it is a ‘quiet time’, and indeed this Spring term is very busy. We have trips going off to Amsterdam and Berlin, a Year 11 Maths trip, a Year 11 Mock Results Ceremony, evening events, Parents’ Evenings and a whole host of other things happening over the term. We really are very busy. Please make sure you are reading all of the communication coming home as it may contain important notices.
One of the most exciting things happening at the end of this term is that we will be moving fully into our completed and new buildings. This will happen at Easter and none of us can wait! More on this as we go through the term.
Thank you as ever for your support, it’s going to be a great term and academic progress, new buildings and happiness.
Year 9 English Achievement Assembly
Year 9 English students celebrated their successes in the Autumn term with two mini achievement assemblies on Thursday 17th December. Year 9 have made a brilliant start to the year, studying a range of challenging GCSE level texts including 'Of Mice and Men' and 19th- and 20th-century relationships poetry.
The skills they develop this year will form the foundations for their achievements at GCSE and so it was fantastic to be able to reward so many students for making an excellent start to the year. Rewards were given for always taking the time to respond to feedback and improve work, high quality homework, participation in lessons and excellent progress amongst other things. Well done year 9 and we look forward to your next English mini achievement assembly at Easter!

Year 10 London Zoo Trip
Students who are taking their Science core GCSE this year went on a trip to London Zoo on Wednesday with Ms Seabright and Mr Thomas. They looked at adaptations of animals from different parts of the world including gorillas, , tigers and penguins. The Reptile House was the final stop where we saw snakes, lizards and turtles before our return.
