STEM Ambassador visit

On Wednesday 10 June Mr Bima's Year 7 class, currently working on the ' Happy City' project, was visited by Daniel Djazouli as part of our STEM Ambassador scheme.  Mr Djazouli is a civil engineer working with Crossrail, based in London but travelling across the country on rail-related projects.

He explained to the girls what his job entailed and how he got to where he is, and he took pains to reinforce that female civil engineers are in great demand and will continue to be in the future. The project focuses on designing structures to be part of a miniature city, so having a real-life civil engineer to discuss a city's infrastructure needs and to take questions, was very informative indeed.

Mr Djazouli will be coming back later this term to visit Ms Pennicott's class who is also doing the 'Happy City' project.

Tapas trip

Last week, 30 Year 8 and 7 students studying Spanish had the opportunity to sample authentic Spanish tapas at a local restaurant, Barcelona. The girls practised their conversations beforehand and managed to conduct themselves in Spanish at the restaurant. The patatas bravas were a favourite!
