Year 6 Parents STEM evening

Year 6 Parents and students who are joining us in September enjoyed a fantastic guest speaker this Wednesday. Marie-Noelle Barton (who, amongst her many achievements includes being director of the organization ‘Women into Engineering and Science’) spoke about the fantastic opportunities available in the STEM industries as well as the demand for more women to enter this sector. There was a question and answer session at the end where parents were most eager to hear more of her professional journey.
The event also allowed our year 7 8 9 and 10 STEM clubs to show off the myriad of activities they have been involved with during the year. In addition, year seven had examples from their STEM curriculum projects, namely, Happy cities, breakfast foods and magic boots.
The school looks forward to seeing our new cohort in September.

STEM Parent student challenge

On Thursday the 21st of May Computer Science had a parent student challenge.

Students were asked to come along with a family member and complete a series of tasks on a device called an Engduino. After completing a series  of short activities to get everyone familiar with the Engduino, families participated in an Engduino bingo competition.  The challenge involved each family competing against each other to complete three Engduino activities. The first family to complete all three tasks won a prize. Well done Aoife Brennan for winning the prize with your family.
