Staff members retiring

Mr Steve Horn, Assistant Headteacher, after being at Sydenham since 1985 and in education since 1978 Steve has undertaken a wide range of roles during his years at Sydenham.  Most recently he has been responsible for setting up the Residential Programme for students in Years 7, 8 &9 culminating in the Outward Bound week in the Lakes for Year9.  Steve is a stalwart of the school whose long experience and good humour will be much missed in the school.

Ms Debbie Sheward, Deputy Senco and history teacher at Sydenham for 14 years and in education for 35 years.  Debbie led on English as an Additional Language (EAL),  delivered the ASDAN certificate and also ran the Black History month.

We wish both Steve and Debbie all the best in their retirement.

Solar eclipse (behind the clouds!)

Over a hundred children gathered with great anticipation from 8.30am last Friday. We had two telescopes setup for the eclipse. One was equipped with a solar filter the other set up for projecting the eclipse image onto a screen. Pin hole cameras were handed out ready for the clouds to clear. As you no doubt know London remained covered in thick cloud all morning! Roll on 2027 when we have another partial eclipse (60%) in London.

Lost property

Students' lost property is kept in the Medical Room. As we will be moving to the new building after Easter, all lost property not claimed before the end of this term will be disposed of. Students are encouraged to come and claim their belongings before or after school, during break or lunch time.
